Malaysian First Day Cover - 50 Years Of The National Museum - 31 August 2013

1.  50 Years Of The National Museum - 31 August 2013.  The idea of constructing the national museum was first proposed by the late Prime Minister of Malaysia , Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj.  Once the building plans were approved in 1958, work started and completed in 1962.  Built on the site of former Selangor Museum destroyed by Allied bombing during World War 2 on the 10th. of  March 1945. The National Museum whose Golden Jubilee falls on this year is celebrated alongside that of the 50th. anniversary of the formation of Malaysia on every 16 September of each year.
