Old Stamps Of French Controlled Post-War Germany ( Germany - Europe )

Zone Francaise - Briefpost  was a French postal agency that produced stamps for use in French controlled parts of post-war Germany.  The allied occupation by the four powers that defeated  the Nazi Germany resulted in the creation of occupied zones in 1945.  The British zone encompassed most of the present-day Northwestern Germany.  The American zone consisted of Southern and Northern portions of Germany.   The Russians controlled the Eastern part of Germany while the French consisted of two non-contiguous areas along the German Border with France.   Saarland was also under French control until the end of 1956.   The British,  American and French zones which later became known as " Trizone " finally became The Federal Republic Of Germany while the Russians zone became the German Democratic Republic.   The two separate entities finally became united as Deutschland  when the Berlin-Wall was brought down.
