German Occupation Of Posen Prussia ( Europe )
Posen was a province of Prussia from 1848 and became part of the German Empire from 1871 until 1918. It is probably fair to state that the City of Posen has a fairly complicated history. It was until the end of World War I as part of Prussia , then Germany as a result of the Treaty of Versailles in 1918. After that the city became part of Poland and was renamed as Poznan. Then again became part of Germany when the former invaded Poland in 1939 and finally with the redrawing of the borders between Germany and Poland at the end of World Wat II, it became part of Poland once more.
