Stamps Of Cambodia - South East Asia

Cambodia used postage stamps of Indo-China until the early 1950s. In 1949, Cambodia became associated with French Union but  gained independence in 1953 and left the union in 1955.  The first stamps were issued in 1951 with Royaume du Cambodge.  One of the stamps depicted King Norodom Sihanouk.  The National United Front of Cambodia took over Cambodia in 1975 and established Democratic Kampuchea. The new regime allowed no civilian private communication  and so abolished the postal system. Service resumed in the early 1979 when the Vietnam People's Army drove the Khmer Rouge out of Phnom Penh. April 1980 saw the first set of postage stamps being issued after the establishment of the People's Republic of Kampuchea.

Stamps Of Laos - South East Asia

Laos is a landlocked country in South East Asia, bordered by Burma and People's Republic of China to the North West, Vietnam to the East, Cambodia to the South and Thailand to the West.  Laos traces back its history to the Kingdom of Lan Xang or land of a million elephants which existed in the 14th century to the 18th century. After a period as a French Protectorate, Laos gained independence in 1953. A long civil war ended officially when the Communist Party Pathet Lao movement came to power in 1975. The first stamps of Laos were issued on 13rd November 1951. Before that stamps of French Indo-China were used.

Postmen Community is one of the projects of Sabah and Sarawak Postal Transformation Plan to widen mail coverage and improve delivery services to remote areas. Since its inception in 2010, there are 250 Postmen Communities in Sabah and Sarawak helping to deliver postal items from house to house in the rural areas where normal postmen could not reach. Postmen Community delivers their daily tasks by using different means of transportation depending upon their unique surrounding and logistical challenges. Some of them ride on horses, bicycles, long boats, motorcycles, cars and even walking.
