Old Stamps Of Switzerland ( Europe ) - Part I

The first stamps in Switzerland were issued by the Cantons of Zurich, Geneva and Basel for their own use, with the first federal issues coming several years later.  Zurich 4 and 6 was put on sale on the 1st. of  March 1843, making it the 2nd. type of stamps in the world, after the UK's Black Penny three years earlier.  Geneva brought out its own stamp issue on the 1st. of October 1843 known as the " Double Geneva. " Basel only issued one stamp the " Basel Dove " in 1845.   The adoption of the federal constitution in 1848, made it possible to issue confederation wide stamps and the first of these came out in 1850.

Old Stamps Of Greece ( Europe )

Greece first postal service was founded in 1828 at the time of Greece independence from the Ottoman Empire.  It continued mail delivery and issued postage stamps until 1970.  It was succeeded by Hellenic Post S.A which remains as Greece official postal provider.

Malaysian FDC - Endangered Marine Life - Issued 13 April 2015

Excessive exploitation due to human behaviour  and activities has led to the near-extinction of many marine animals such as whales, dolphins and sharks, among others.  Steps have to be taken to preserve the balance of the ecosystem of the ocean to prevent the further degradation of these animals and their environment.  Anoxypristis  cuspidate is known as Ikan Pari Gergaji by the locals.  The blue whale is one of the largest animals ever to live on earth.  The killer whale is the largest member of the dolphin family and one of the world's most powerful predators. The hunchback whale can easily be identified by its spectacular breaching,  lobtailing and flipper-slapping. It has large stocky body with black or dark grey upper side.

Old Stamps Of Bulgaria ( Europe )

Bulgaria liberated from the Ottoman Empire in 1878.  From 1879, Bulgaria issued stamps with Bulgarian Cyrillic.  Bulgaria achieved independence in 1908 although early stamps depicted Tsar Ferdinand and Tsar Boris III.

Old Stamps Of Srodkowa Litwa / Central Lithuania ( Europe )

Republic of Central Lithuania was a small buffer state which existed between Poland and Lithuania in the aftermaths of the First World War from 1918 until 1922.  The 1st stamps of Central Lithuania are definitive stamps with the national coat of arms as the design ( Polish eagle and the Lithuanian rider ) is very similar to the Polish stamps of that era.  ( the stamps were printed by the Polish state )

Old Stamps Of Poczta Polska - Poland ( Europe )

Poland became a free country at the end of the First World War.  The very first stamps issued during the second Republic were those of Austria and Germany overprinted with the words " Poczta Polska " and the ready printed words on the stamps came out later.
