New Stamps Of Bulgaria ( Europe )

Way back in the 15th century, Bulgaria was incorporated  into the Ottoman Empire and remained so until 1877. With the help of the Russians, Bulgaria was liberated from the Ottomans and was administered by the Russians from 1877 until 1878. When the German prince Alexander was elected as  Bulgaria's first regent in 1879, in the same year Bulgarian postal service was established. The first stamps of the country had denominations in French francs and centimes. In 1881, Bulgaria issued six new stamps but this time with denominations in stiotinki. All in all there were 100 different stamps issued from 1879 until 1908.  Shown here are new stamps of the country after achieving independence. ( Older stamps can be seen on 7th. April 2015 )
