Old Stamps Of Deutsche Bundespost Berlin ( 1948 -1990 )

West Berlin under the jurisdiction of the three Western powers started releasing its own stamps on September 1948.   It continued to produce stamps under the Deutsche Bundspost Berlin label for 42 years, a total of 800 different stamps until the unification in 1990.  Many Berlin stamps were similar to the stamps of West Germany.   West Germany and Berlin stamps could be used in either jurisdiction.

Deutsche  post of the GDR was a state-owned monopoly of the German Democratic Republic of East Germany.   This state-owned postal service was in operation from 1949 until the unification of Germany on 3rd. October 1990

Old Stamps Of Post-War Germany Under Allied Forces ( Europe )

After Germany was defeated in 1945, the Allied Forces which were made up of Britain, America, France and Russia occupied Germany .  Those areas under the British and the US issued certain postal stamps entitled  " Deutsche Post " .  Stamps of Germany under French Zone ( See 22 July 2014 ).

Old Stamp Of German GrossDeutsches Reich ( World War II 1933 -1945 )

Following the annexation of Austria in 1938, Nazi Germany informally named itself as " GrossDeutsches Reich " or Greater German Reich .   This name was made the official state name only during the last two years ( 1944 - 1945 ) of Nazi rule under Adolf Hitler though the change was never proclaimed.   After World War II , the denotation Deutsches Reich quickly fell into disuse in Allied-Occupied Germany.

Old Postage Stamps Of Deutsches Reich / German Empire ( 1916 until 1943 )

German Reich postage stamps started with Deutsches Reich-Post postal stamps whose values were in   Goschen or Kreuzer  from 1871 until 1874.   This was then followed by Reichpost postage stamps from 1875 until 1915 a year after World War I erupted.  Deutsches Reich postage stamps began in 1916 and lasted until two years before the end of World War II that was in 1943.

Old Stamps of German Occupation Of French Alsace and Lorraine ( World War II -1914 - 1918 )

Alsace is located on France's eastern border and on the west bank of Upper Rhine adjacent to Germany and Switzerland.   This region is actually within the Republic of France.    Alsace and Lorraine was occupied by Germany in 1940 during World War II.  Although Germany never really annexed Alsace, it was incorporated into the Greater German Reich.  During that time, Alsace was merged into the state of Baden while Lorraine with Saarland.

Old German Occupation Stamp Of Soviet Ukraine - Europe ( World War II - 1933 until 1945 )

The surprise German invasion of Soviet Ukraine began on June 22, 1941.   The Soviet which administered Ukraine at that time implemented a scorched-earth policy by destroying crops, buildings, mines and transported their populace to save zones in order to stop Germany from using these assets for military gain. Anyway by November 1941, virtually all of Ukraine was under the Nazi control.

Nazi Germany main concerns in establishing control over the Danube Basin including its river were economic in nature.   To gain control of the river, the Nazi annexed Austria, invaded Yugloslavia and the Soviet Union where the river flowed and made treaties with the Kingdom of Romania and Hungary ( 1938 - 1940 ).

" The Danube is the waterway which leads into the very heart of the continent, and for this reason, in a Europe united by us, it will have to be regarded as a German river and must be controlled by Germany. "

Bohemia and Moravia which was an ethnic Czech State formed from the central parts of Bohemia, Moravia and Czech Silesia, in what is today the Czech Republic.  On March 15, 1939, Adolph Hitler proclaimed Bohemia and Moravia as German Protectorate.
