Old And New Stamps Of Thailand ( South East Asia )

Before Siam / Thailand issued its first stamps, mail service was only for the royal family. The earliest recorded mail  from Bangkok dates back to 1836 when an American missionary sent a letter to his father in a stampless cover. The British consular  post office in Bangkok was established by the British in 1858. It ceased to provide service in 1885 when Siam joined the Universal Post and started its own international postal service. Siam issued its first stamps the Solet series on 4th. of August 1883.
