Colonial And Independent Stamps Of Papua New Guinea ( Pacific Region )

1Colonial division of the island of New Guinea before 1914. In the west, the Dutch part known now as Irian Barat. In the north-east, the German section and in the south the British section renamed as Papua by the Australian Government until its independence in 1975 where the German part and the British one were united and known as Papua New Guinea. The west part remained under the Dutch and later to Indonesia after its independence.
