Danzig is located on the Baltic Sea and has a long history of industry and shipbuilding. After the defeat of Napolean in 1815, Danzig became a part of the Kingdom of Prussia and later a part of German Empire when it was created in 1871. Prior to the creation of a Free State, stamps of the German Empire were used.
