A family traveled to a place known as Burkhan Khaldum near the source of Onum river when their first child was born named Balachikan. Eight generations after Balachikan, Yesugei was born and later known as Temujin. The history of Mongolia starts with Temujin who was later known as Ghengis Khan the founder of the largest continental empire in the world. In the 2nd. century Ghengis Khan united all the Mongolian clans fighting one another into a strong nation. The infamous Mongolian Horde ruled over an empire that encompassed many countries, nations, religions and languages. In the 14th. century, Mongolia was ruled by the Mancu Dynasty of Qing. The Mancu rule lasted until 1911 when Mongolia proclaimed independence. In 1915, Kyahta Treaty was signed between Russia, China and Mongolia granting Mongolia limited autonomy. In Nov. 26 1924, Mongolia became the 2nd. communist country after China. For the next 70 years Mongolia became the satellite country to the Soviet Union. Anyway it became a Democratic Mongolia soon after the 1996 general elections.
