Coins of Tajikistan

The present-day Tajik Republic dated back to the Samanid Empire in 875 to 999 AD.   The country came under Russian rule in 1860.   During the Russian Revolution in 1917, Tajik became an autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic within Usbekistan.  The Tajikish Soviet Socialist Republic was among the last republics of the Soviet Union to declare its independence.   On Sep. 9  1991 following the collapse of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republic, Tajikistan declared its independence.
